There are a few differences between these bags let's run through them!
- SHAPE
The dual ply sand bag has a cylindrical shape and has a solid feel due to the bags being made to be filled to that exact weight. Each bag is filled to the top which makes it hard and solid like a barrel and has a different feel to our Heavy Duty when carrying it. The Heavy Duty sand bag is just one size and even when it is filled to it's maximum suggested weight of 130kg (286lb) it still has a loose feel and the sand inside can move and shift about. This is particularly true at the lighter weight. In general these bags are used at weights of 90kg to 120kg.

- FILLING
The Dual Ply Bag is filled:
- Open out your Sandbag & open the inner bag.
- Now fill your Sandbag until your bag is full and packed tight, we suggest coarse sand. Please note that the loadable weight of the bag depends on the density and size of the media being used. Certain media may cause the overall weight of the bag to be greater than or less than the projected weight capacity.
- Seal the inner bag Velcro, roll down and press down and seal again against the inner Velcro.
- Push the inner seal inside, shut the zip and close over the external double Velcro straps.
The Heavy Duty Sandbag is filled:
- Open out your Sandbag & open out your liner inside your sandbag.
- Now fill your liner/sandbag with the desired amount of sand, we suggest coarse sand. Please note that the maximum suggested weight is 130kg!
- Using the cable ties provided seal the liner closed inside the bag, so it is tight and compact, do not cut your cable ties, and trim off any liner excess.
- Now tighten the draw string on the inner collar make sure that is as tight as you can get it.
- Now gather up the open end of the sandbag and get it as close/tight to the sandbag liner. You want the bag to be compact. Now using the external tie strap wrap it clock wise around the tightly gathered up material so it is as tight as you can make it.
- Feed the end of the strap through the plastic fastener and pull the strap so it tightens and locks the strap securely in the plastic fastener
WHAT BAG IS BEST FOR ME?
To be honest it totally depends on you! Both types of bags are great for loading, carrying, pressing and strongman events. However where the dual ply bag does stand out is at the lighter weights. Because the bags are sized to match their set weight they are the perfect shape at 45kg or 60kg or 100kg and are not too loose and floppy or have loads of extra material left over.
I have 4 of the dual ply bags, really kick your ass to work out with. I warm up with a 145 lb bag, then work out with 220 and 265 lb bags. I have a 305 lb bag that I’m close to getting to chest level to carry but as of yet is my next goal. I love em.
