Steve Tripp, (@strippcam), is back for the last installment of our isometrics series, and this week is all about OVERCOMING ISOMETRICS!
One of the biggest benefits of overcoming isometrics is the fact that they help produce greater power generation due to their ability to elicit a post activation potentiation response in the muscle which essentially let’s you be more explosive in subsequent movements. That’s why you see these used as a movement prep for deadlift so often.
Another reason to use these is to develop that “grind mentality” so many athletes lack simply by having the athlete grind out that isometric portion and learn the feeling of struggling through a sticking point of a lift.
